The municipality of Sikatuna is an interior town located some 16.6 kilometers from Tagbilaran City. It was named after the famous Boholano Chieftain. Datu Sikatuna who made a blood compact with the Spanish Conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, in March 16, 1568. Sikatuna was established as a town by Executive Order No. 88 issued by Governor General Francis Burton Harrison on December 5, 1917.   It used to be called Cornago, then a barrio of Sikatuna. During World War II, it became an evacuation center of the people from the neighboring towns. When the Japanese learned this, they placed a garrison in the municipal building. The guerillas did not attach the garrison in order not to expose the civilian populace to the dangers of reprisal.
